Find
Volunteer Opportunities
Opportunities to volunteer are everywhere. If you haven’t
already, review some of the information found in Volunteering
101. There are many great hints there.
Here are some places for you to start looking:
1. Contact your local volunteer
centre. Volunteer centres are the experts in your community
on volunteerism. Many centres manage a database of volunteer opportunities
for their communities and most do have their own websites.
2.
VolWeb.ca is an exciting initiative
from 2010 Legacies Now - Volunteers Now and Volunteer BC designed
to help organizations and volunteers connect to help support the
many exciting events across BC. VolWeb.ca – a web-based registration
system – makes it easy for organizations to find a dedicated team
of volunteers to make their events a success.
3. Check out Volunteer
Canada’s portal to volunteer opportunities found at www.volunteer.ca/map.
4. For opportunities in the Lower
Mainland, try www.govolunteer.ca.
5. The organizations who are part of Volunteer BC’s
provincial network of voluntary organizations (VOCBC) all involve
volunteers. Contact some of these organizations directly or visit
their websites. You can find a list of VOCBC member organizations
here. |
