Our Vision

Volunteer BC's vision is of a sector working together to achieve excellence in volunteerism for the benefit of all British Columbians.

Our Mission

To be a strong and relevant provincial voice in promoting the development and value of volunteerism in BC by working cooperatively with volunteer centres, voluntary organizations, governments, business, and volunteer-involving organizations.

Our Goals

Volunteer BC serves the network of volunteer centres across British Columbia with the following goals:

  1. To be a strong and visible voice and support network for the volunteer sector within regions and communities throughout BC; and to be the (main? Primary?) provincial entity serving this broad volunteer sector;
  2. To inspire and support community leaders to unite and build a strong volunteer sector in BC;
  3. To raise awareness of the value, benefits and significant contributions that volunteering makes within BC's individual communities and province-wide;
  4. To lead in the development of a provincial volunteer recognition initiative;
  5. To promote and support effective volunteering practice and principles;
  6. To partner with government to advocate for policy support of the volunteer sector;
  7. To facilitate dialogue and engender solutions addressing volunteer sector issues, trends, and challenges facing our communities;
  8. Within the volunteer sector, to support and facilitate positive change through various vehicles including research, planning, training, convening, and capacity-building;
  9. To build a strong provincial organization that is sustainable through diverse funding, member engagement, community, and government support.
